Rare copperplate-printed toile fragment from the popular eighteenth-century English pattern "The Apotheosis of Franklin and Washington." The fragment features a copper-plate printed portrait of Benjamin Franklin in academic robes and his famous cap after the famed 1777 portrait of him by Jean-Baptiste holding the ends of a banner reading "Where liberty dwells there is my country." The fragment has been framed within a patterned textile border. In near fine condition. The piece measures 13.75 inches by 11.25 inches. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box.

First translation of Euripides into English, translated by Robert Potter, from his own library. Octavo, two volumes, bound in contemporary leather, engraved frontispiece to volume I, list of subscribers. The translator's own copy with his inscription, "From the Library of the Rev Robert Potter, M.A., Rector of Lowestoft from 1789 to 1804" to volume one of the front pastedown. Robert Potter was a poet and translator, completed his translation of Euripides in 1783. He established the convention of using blank verse for Greek hexameters and rhymed verse for choruses. In good condition. Rare and desirable, with exceptional provenance.

Rare Presidential Land Grant signed by Andrew Jackson as President. Quarto, one page partially printed and accomplished in manuscript, the document is dated January 4, 1830 and grants a quarter of land in Vigo County, Indiana to Charles B. Modesitt. The recipient, Charles Burns Modesitt, was a physician and businessman and one of the first settlers of Vigo County. He became an early adherent of the Church of Latter Day Saints beginning in 1838. Matted and framed. In very good condition. The piece measures 22.6 inches by 18.3 inches.
