Also published by Bloch Publishing Company, the oldest Jewish printing house in the United States, Aunt Babette's Cook Book was perhaps so successful because of the extensive inclusion of non-Kosher recipes, reflecting the early assimilation tendencies of the 19th-century Reform Jewish movement.
