Sparks' most notable work was his Writings of George Washington. He was an important early American Antiquarian and influential in his historical scholarship on the new nation. Framed. Annotated on the rear in an unknown hand, "Painted by David Conwell (better known as John le Carré) given to Anne Simpson, 27th May 1952." In fine condition. The act was received warmly by the audience. Double matted and framed. The entire piece measures 18 inches by 19 inches. Rare and desirable.
