Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Claire Kelly, charmer of serpents - why not try the birds? - Roger T. Peterson (Dictator) - C.M. Beal (Interpreter)." The recipient Claire Kelly, while a student at Cornell dated Peterson's personal assistant C.M. Beal and at the time she was also working with snakes at the Museum of Natural History. In very good condition with some light dampstaining.

Rare incunable edition of Justinus's epitome of the Historia Philippica by Pompeius Trogus. Chancery folio, bound in one quarter vellum over patterned boards with ink titles to the spine, Roman type. In very good condition. Bookplate. Period marginalia. Exceptionally rare, one of the earliest books printed in Roman type, which would influence famed 15th century Venetian printer Aldus Manutius, as well as such latter day designers as William Morris and Bruce Rogers.

The American flag bearing 44 stars was in use between July 10, 1890 when the state of Wyoming was admitted into the Union and January 4, 1896 when Utah was admitted as the 45th state. In near fine condition with ownership initials to the hoist, identified to “Camp 6 Sons of Veterans, Illinois Division USA. The flag measures 48 inches by 84 inches.

Copper engraved, hand-colored map of one of the most decorative maps of the Holy Land of the 17th century. One page with hand-colored borders, the map depicts the tribes of Israel and the route the Israelites took from Egypt through Sinai into Canaan. In the sea there are three sea monsters, one of which has targeted a fishing vessel. The title cartouche is guarded by two dogs, draped with fruit, and flanked by Moses inscribing the ten commandments and a Jewish high priest. In fine condition. Double matted and framed.
